Dear Potential Student,
Here’s a proven FACT about fighting:
Most—almost ALL—fights end up on the ground (or in grappling range) at some point during the fight.
So that means…
If you can’t defend yourself on the ground, YOU CAN’T FIGHT!
Bottom line is, if you don’t know what to do in a fight on the ground, you’re putting yourself at risk, and even your loved ones! That sounds unpleasant, but it’s the truth.
The fact you’re on this page right now means you’re at least somewhat serious about learning more about how to defend yourself, and learning the tried-and-tested, proven successful techniques of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Maybe you want to compete in the sport, or maybe you just want to get the benefits of training and learning this powerful martial art… either way, we’ve got you covered!
Let’s face it. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a “must-know” style for any professional mixed martial artists like the ones fighting in the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship).
And these days, BJJ should most definitely be a “must-know” for pretty much ANYONE.
The fight-controlling positions of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, along with the fight-ending submissions, have been battle-tested in combat, in sport, in the cage (MMA), and on the street.
And probably the main reason that Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is something EVERYONE should learn, is because it can be effective regardless of a person’s size or strength!
BJJ was developed so that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend himself or herself against a larger, stronger, heavier opponent.
That’s why ANYONE can do Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and that’s why EVERYONE should learn this incredible martial art!
With Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, the smaller person really CAN beat the bigger person!
Here’s how a person who knows Brazilian Jiu Jitsu can defeat a bigger, stronger attacker:
It’s done by taking the fight to the ground and using proper technique and leverage, and then applying joint locks or chokeholds to defeat the resisting opponent, making them quit, and getting yourself out of harm’s way.
What is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a grappling-based martial art whose central theme is the skill of controlling a resisting opponent in ways that force him to submit.
It’s a fact that controlling an opponent is generally easier on the ground vs. from the standing position, and 80% of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is focused on mastering these skills.
It’s the art of taking an opponent down to the ground and wrestling with them for a position of control, rendering your opponent helpless and at the same time, harmless.
The ability to overcome greater size, strength and aggression with lesser size and strength is the cornerstone of the art.
BJJ allows the smaller person to win by teaching how to utilize superior leverage, grip and position upon your opponent.
Students of the art gain a deep understanding of the workings and limits of the human body and how to use technique and skill to his or her advantage.
This knowledge can be used to control and submit an opponent with whatever level of severity the student chooses. The path to this knowledge is challenging, both physically and mentally, but most would agree it’s worth the journey.
Students benefit from greatly increased physical fitness, learning to problem-solve, self-knowledge of their own body as well as their mind.
BJJ also offers many social benefits that come from learning and training within a group of like-minded people as you have fun and learn the art together, side by side.
