Last week Master Danny Ives, head instructor for Ivey League Mixed Martial Arts in Annapolis Maryland, was hosted for a MMA seminar in Virginia Beach.
The seminar focused on ground attacks for both MMA and self defense. Some of the techniques that Master Danny covered were:
*The Peterson Roll
*Omoplatas from closed guard
*Opening and passing the guard
*The “Villarisco Tuck” back defense
*Tons more!
After the seminar Master Danny got a chance to roll around with many of the students and was very impressed with their technique and movements. Master Danny commented “I’m not shocked ya’ll are very good at MMA due to the fact that Kru Jose Villarisco trained you all”.
Another highlight to the seminar was the promotion of Brandon Pennington to the rank of BJJ blue belt. Master Danny and Kru Jose both felt that Brandon was indeed ready for the next level, so a big congrats goes to Brandon!
After Virginia Master Danny came home, got a ride from Miss Teresa Russin and headed to the airport for another seminar/wrestling trip in Iowa City, Iowa.
