Most people don’t look at the bigger picture when it comes to martial arts and their kid(s).

What our kids gain through martial arts is a whole lot more then just punching and kicking. Aside from the obvious mental benefits like discipline and confidence the kids also gain the gift of athleticism.

That’s something that can take them places beyond the dojo. It helps with making the football team as well as day to day life like moving a couch!

In our classes we spend a good chunk of time having the kids do things like gymnastics, body weight exercises, sprinting and the crawl series (crawls are awesome).

We do all this not because we want to run the kids into the ground…okay well maybe a little, but no we really do all this to make the kids better athletes.

What parents wouldn’t want their child to be more explosive? Or faster and more flexible? All parents want this.

And I’ll tell you what, I’ve seen a ton of kids go from not being able to do a simple forward roll to now being able to do back flips, full splits and run like a freaking gazelle!

Too many martial arts schools take the easy road and just stick to piece of cake, pat on the back type martial arts sessions.

Look, yes I’m glad all the kids feel good and all that jazz but come on man, you’ve got to offer more then that.

For a kid to go from not being able to climb a rope to all the sudden flying up the thing, that’s huge for a child! Not just from an athletic standpoint but also in terms of confidence.

But that rope climb is something the kids have to work up to. Most of them anyway. Like I said above, when they finally make it to the top the joy of that kids face, it’s just priceless.

The classes we run are tough, sure, but at the same time rewarding. Our parents appreciate the training we put their kids through and how hard the kids have to work.

I’ll put it to you like this, the kids at Ivy League MMA break a sweat. That and then some. They workout hard and go home tired. It’s win win for Mom and Dad as well as little Johnny.

For a kid to go from not being able to climb a rope to all the sudden flying up the thing, that’s huge for a child! Not just from an athletic standpoint but also in terms of confidence.

So, thinking about putting your child in martial arts lessons? That’s good thinking right there. Trust me, what they gain is worth it’s weight in gold…and then some.
