February 3, 2012
    Hello All!

We have the date set for our very first in-house Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
    and Nogi grappling tournament!

As you can imagine we’re very excited and you should be too.

This will give the students of Ivey League MMA a chance to come out

and compete against other members in a friendly, safe and familiar

    environment.

To compete in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu you’ll need A full BJJ gi which
    should include:

    Standard BJJ Gi top
    Gi Pants
    A BJJ belt

    Cup (for men)
    Mouth piece

IF you dont have a gi, you can order one through us. See a staff
    member to purchase.

    For nogi you’ll need:
    A Ivey League T-shirt (Intro-Grey, Cap-Gold or Platinum shirts)
    Black shorts (Lycra or regular)
    A mouth piece

    Cup (for men)

The tournament will be for both children and adults. The dates and

Is there striking? No this is a grappling only tournament with focus
    on BJJ/Wrestling
Do I have to make weight? No we’ll be using the Madison weight system
and matching students up who are closest in skill.
How many matches will I have? At least 2 but most likely more then that!
Who do I speak with to pre reg for the tournament? See Miss Chrissy at
the front desk to pre register (you will save money that way!)

A Couple of Key Points for Participants –
You are welcome to bring spectators with the understanding that our
space is limited so they may have to wait outside until it is your
turn to compete. We will attempt to fit all in that we can, but the
mats will be used so there may be standing room only for spectators.
We promise to do our best.

You WILL Be competing against your friends and fellow students. This
is very important that you understand that you are competitors on the
mat but will remain friends in real life. The point of the in house
tournament is to gain experience but not at the expense of disliking
your training buddies. This is even more important for the kids who
may experience their first win or loss in a competition.

If you are not interested in competing but want to be part of the
action, we are taking volunteers to help keep score, etc. Let Miss
Chrissy know at the front desk or send us an email if you are
interested in that and we appreciate your help.
