Coach Matthew Teltoe has fast become one of the best and most talented kids instructors in Maryland. He’s been working with the kids here at Ivey League since 2012 and he’s done a fantastic job to say the least.
Coach Matt started learning martial arts while enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He trained in Hand to hand combat while working as a rescue swimmer deployed in the Persian Gulf. He liked the training so much that he decided to start taking Brazilian Ju-Jitsu classes here at Ivey League in 2010.
It didn’t take long for him to experienced the difference that Brazilian Ju-jitsu can provide in terms of health, stamina, and overall self discipline.
Coach Matt loves teaching others how they can better themselves through martial arts in order to not only become better as a person but also learning how to reach their desired goals in life.
Matt’s goal is to ensure that you as a student walk away satisfied and confident about yourself.
And if you ever get to see him in action working with the kids you’ll be able to tell right away that he truly cares about the overall development of the children.
He teaches class in a way that helps them not only learn the skills better/faster but at the same time the kids have a lot of fun.
We’re truly lucky to have him on staff. We’re pretty sure the kids and parents all feel the same way.
Miss Katniss C.
Katniss got started with martial arts and Ivy League at the age of 12 through a close friend who begged her to give the classes a try. It didn’t take long for her to fall in love with the training and more specifically, the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, which she has excelled in.
Since that time Katniss has moved through the ranks of BJJ and in August 2014 she was promoted to the rank of Blue Belt by Master Danny Ives. Not only is Katniss an outstanding students, both at Ivey League and in high school, she’s also a super coach.
Katniss now works part time at Ivey League, helping to teach the Little Ninjas and JR’s fundamental classes. There’s no doubt Katniss is a big part of the success our kids program enjoys. She says Ivey League has become family to her and we’re proud to call this amazing young lady “family”.
