This past weekend, Ivey League MMA had two of our up-and-comers out on the mats, competing in the always tough Naga grappling tournament.
Brian “Junior†Mahoney took double gold medals in the teen divisions, both Gi and No Gi. He had some awesome matches and has improved greatly over the last few months. He attacked with his solid guard passing and sharp defensive skills. It didn’t hurt to have his older brother, Lloyd Irvin standout Danny Mahoney coaching him! Much congrats go to Jr for showing up and going hard the whole time.
The other team member out there was Jack Dawson. Jack won his first and second matches, but came up a bit short in the finals. Jack will of course get back on the horse and work on some things, but overall we feel like he had a good tournament and will only get better.
