Charles Cherry made history this past weekend, becoming the first blue
belt for Ivey League. This was after Charles placed 1st in the white
belt Masters division, Throwing everyone he faced and submitting all
his opponents. Charles was originally supposed to compete in the
adult white belt division but instead he wanted tougher matches so he
jumped into the adult blue belt division and won that too! Beating a
very tough opponent in the finals 3-0. Keep in mind that Charles is 37 years old! After the match Danny got
Master Lloyd Irvin’s and Coach Julius Park’s blessings to promote the
big man to the rank of Blue belt! Congrats Charles!!!
Also right there in the cut was Jason Milton, another tough
heavyweight. Jason Took 3rd in nogi advanced and than jumped into the
White belt heavyweight division were he placed 2nd, losing in the
finals on points.
Also competing were Julian Beverly, Sean Cabrey, Phil Higgens and Antoine
Allen. Great job to everyone that came out and fought hard!
