As so many people know, Master Danny Ives is pretty good at BJJ. He’s won pretty much anything and everything when it comes to Brazilian Gracie Jiu-Jitsu.

What many people don’t know is that Master Danny isn’t strong, fast or athletic at all. He’s very what most people would consider “Normal” when it comes to abilities.

What made Master Danny great was his use of technique and timing.

He was always a believer in drilling and attacking with perfect technique. By timing we mean he understood just when to attempt his attacks. At the right time and right place, that’s good timing.

So Master Danny Ives decided to shoot 2 new youtube.com videos. Both related to Brazilian Gracie Jiu-Jitsu.

The first, which is right below, is focused on the BJJ Turtle Guard. The technique is called a “Murphy Roll”, named after long time student and Platinum Member Mike Murphy.

This is the second time that Master Danny covered this technique for the public to see. He felt the first go-around could have been better. All the details can be found in this updated video.

(Thanks to Miss Chrissy for filming)

The second video is another area that Master Danny specializes in. It’s a sweep from the bottom of shallow half guard.

It’s called a belt feed sweep. What makes this technique so unique is the switching of the head. Not many people do this but as Master Danny talks about, it’s a great thing to do.

You can see that video just below.

We hope everyone enjoyed the videos. For more information on BJJ classes with Master Danny Ives please check us out at:
