Wow. Today’s weather is simply amazing. 77 degrees outside, sunny and not a cloud in the sky.
And here I am, downstairs in the basement of Ivey League, trapped in my office. My office by the way lacks windows, so sun, snow or rain, i wouldn’t know.
So here I am on this fantastic day sitting in my office writing this opening piece for this newsletter.
I’ll be totally honest with you, I don’t wanna be here. I don’t feel like writing this right now. I’d much rather go outside and toss the football around with the kids.
At this point you might be asking the obvious question: Why don’t you just ditch the computer and windowless basement for the great outdoors?
I stay here and type on my laptop because I want Ivey League to be successful. Or stay that way I should say.
Because if I did that then this newsletter would never get done. It would never make it to the mailbox. I’d have missed my deadline and failed.
I’m down here writing because this needs to get done, now. Not tomorrow, or next week, right now.
Now granted I did wait till the last minute to do it this is true, doesn’t matter, today’s the day.
The point i’m trying to make is that in order for goals to be met, and things to get done, you’ve got to do things that you don’t want to do or even like to do.
Like with this newsletter, it doesn’t matter that I’m not in the mood to write. It wouldn’t matter if i was sick either.
I’m going to get the job done no matter what. That’s the difference between successful people and not so successful people.
The ones who find the most success in life are the ones who stick to the plan and work tirelessly day in and day out, good or bad mood, until the goal has been accomplished.
The reality is I could lay around my house all day long and watch TV if i wanted to. I could get away with that because my staff is very good and ivey league is always in good hands.
But i don’t. I don’t do that stuff because I’ve got things to accomplish, deadlines that need to be met.
Laying around my house sure sounds nice, but success doesn’t come to couch potato’s. at least last i checked it didn’t.
This mindset also applies to sticking with your fitness routines. Do you have a workout planned for tonight? Maybe a Kickboxing class?
Are you thinking about skipping that class? Not in the mood to workout huh? Tough, get off your butt and get that workout in!
Don’t let a temporary mood or distraction take you off track and stop you from achieving your goals.
Do the workout, get that project done, stay focused. No matter what. Live life like that and believe me, success will sooner or later land right in your lap.
