When you talk about the most dangerous submission holds in the whole world I think you really talk about 3 techniques. The rear naked choke, the heel hook and the world famous guillotine.

Now, I titled this blog post the guillotine of BJJ but in the grand scheme of things this move is more likely not a product of the Gracie’s. I’m guessing that this move has been around for a long long time. Where it came from I’m not sure anyone knows. What I can tell you about this technique is that it’s the number 1 finishing hold in the UFC. If it works in the UFC it’ll work in a street fight, most of the moves do.

If you’ve seen the childrens classes at Ivey League in the last few weeks then you’ve seen us working on the guillotine with the BBC kids. The kids are starting to get pretty good at this move judging by what we saw Friday night from 7 year old Robert “Tank” Mish. Robert can hit the guillotine from a dozen places at least. I should add in that safety is our utmost priority with all students at Ivey League so the kids are watched closely to make sure everyone is safe.

Anyway, check out some of these sweet videos of the guillotine.
