Happy almost winter everyone!
This is Master Danny Ives here bringing you the latest news and updates going on here at everyones favorite martial arts academy in Annapolis.
This Saturday, the 17th, we’ll be holding our first parent/instructor tournament meeting. This meeting will be for all the parents of kids that want to start competing in martial arts tournaments. Mainly BJJ and grappling type events.
Below is the email I sent out to all the parents:
Hi Parents,
Some of the kids and parents have expressed
interest in competing.
Competing in grappling tournaments that is.
So this Saturday, 11-17-2012 we’ll be holding a meeting
for all parents interested in having their child compete in
grappling/Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) tournaments.
I’ve been getting a lot of questions regarding kids
competing or getting started competing.
With the winter tournament season upon us we
thought this would be as good a time as any to hold
this meeting.
Remember, this isn’t kids fighting in cages or anything
crazy like that. This is for kids grappling and Jiu Jitsu
tournament. They will not be getting hit or hitting anyone.
This will be held by the staff here at Ivey League
as well as some of the parents.
We’ll be going over the schedule for the season
and also the dos and don’t every parent will need
and want to know regarding grappling tournaments.
The date for this will be November 17th (Saturday)
at 11am.
It’s going to be held in the downstairs parents waiting
room. Bonnie Dzolio and myself will be running the
meeting.
I hope to see a lot of parents there!

The following week we have some academy closing times due to the holiday. Below is that email I sent out to everyone:
I hope everyone is as excited for Turkey Day as I
am!
It’s my favorite holiday of the year…why you ask?!
Come on guys It’s MD and I like to eat, hehe.
Okay so the point of this email is to let you know
what the holiday schedule is going to be, for kids
and adults.
Wednesday, the 28th we’ll be closed for all
classes BUT the am adult class.
We’re closed for all classes from Thurday till
Saturday. So no classes at all for Thurs, Fri
and Saturday.
Those dates are: 29th,30th, and the 1st of
December. We’ll reopen for Sunday morning classes
starting at 11am.
Again, on Wednesday the 28th we will however still have
the morning class and all after school kids pickup/dropoff.
Some people have asked me why we’re not holding
classes that Wednesday night and I’ll tell you why…
Every year people beg me to have classes and when
we do no one shows up. Not even for open mats.
So this year we close at 6:30pm so that everyone,
including the staff can enjoy the holiday and eat
themselves silly, haha.
If you have any questions feel free to email me back.
Thanks a ton for being awesome!
Humbly Yours,
Master Danny Ives
The last email is in regards to the CAP Gold and Platinum BJJ students traveling down to Camp Springs for a joint team training session.
Camp Springs is the main training center of Team Lloyd Irvin and is run by Master Lloyd Irvin himself.
Below is the email. Remember this is open to Gold and Platinum only.
Tomorrow night, Tuesday the 13th, we’ll
be heading down to Camp Springs for a
joint training session.
This is open to all students in our CAP
Gold/Platinum programs who train with
the gi.
It takes 33 minutes to get there from the
new Ivey League, so plan accordingly.
It starts at 8:30pm so please get there no
later then 8:15 so you can be dressed and
ready to rock when the workout starts.
If you want to see what the highest level
of BJJ training is then you need to be at this
session.
Remember, you’ll need a full gi, top, pants and
belt.
The address is:
Lloyd Irvin Camp Springs
6333 Old Brand Ave

Please don’t show up stinky! Make sure you show
up with a smile and give good representation
of myself and Ivey League.
The workout will go to most likely 10pm…but could
be longer.
If you need more info please contact Coach Brandon
Hendrickson at brandonhen@msn.com
