We here at Ivey League Mixed Martial Arts get asked all the time this one question.
“What can I do at home to help with my MMA classes?”
That’s a good question for sure. Let us help you to answer it.
There are a number of good things you can do outside of your normal MMA class routine. Those things are:
- Running (Roadwork)
- Biking
- Shadow Boxing
- Hit the punching bag
- Weight lifting
- Watching films (aka Youtube.com)
- Reviewing notes from your classes
We really could go on and on but the key point is that you can always be doing something to improve your overall mix martial arts (MMA) skills. Yes even at home.
The easiest thing to start with is watching the great fighters on youtube. That’s something most of the old school guys didn’t have back in the day. You have videos of the best fighters in the world and it’s only a click away. Study them and find out what they do that makes them so great.
You can always do some basic jogging or roadwork as we in the fight game tend to call it. You don’t need much, just some running shoes and maybe an ipod. Hit the road and get that cardio up as well as your fitness level and summer beach muscles. Enjoy the weather and run outside too (sunblock would be a good idea).
We could go into all the other stuff but you get the idea. Do some of or all of the things listed above and you’ll make gains and be that much more ready for your classes.
Remember, no excuses, just get out there and do it.
Even If you’re “slow” or not that good guess what? You’re still moving faster then the guy sitting on his couch watching TV while drinking a beer.
Just get started, have fun and the results will follow, trust us. Ivey League MMA knows how this learning and getting in shape thing works!
