I would like to start off by thanking Kru Jose Villarisco, from Outfox MMA, for coming down to Ivey League MMA and doing an amazing Muay Thai Seminar. Kru Jose has accomplished a lot in not only the Muay Thai circuit but in MMA as well.
He was a 3x WKA Muay Thai kickboxing national champion and was the head Muay Thai instructor at Camp Springs for Team Lloyd Irvin before opening his own gym in Virginia Beach.
Kru Jose went over a lot of fakes and defenses with the push kick. The push kick is a very effective technique in MMA and Muay Thai. The push kick is a great way to gauge distance as well as keeping your distance. One technique that Kru Jose went over was to throw a switch kick and then once the opponent gets used to the switch, you throw that push kick.
This would work very well because once your opponent gets used to the switch they will eventually start checking the switch. So once you land that push kick, they will be very off balance because they will begin trying to check the kick.
For those of you who missed it, be sure to try and make it out to these seminars. They are a great way to improve your game and become better at Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai or MMA. Kru Jose has trained guys like Mike Easton, so you would be learning the same techniques as a UFC contender.
