Here at Ivey League MMA there are some techniques that have almost a cult like following among the students. We have some half guard moves, some punch combos and kicks and then of course, the old standby and favorite, THE CEMENT MIXER! Yup you’re right, I put that in caps to get the point across. Flipping awesome skill to know.
What is a cement mixer you might ask? It’s a Wrestling technique that comes from Northampton HS back in Pennsylvania. It’s known all over the world but back in PA is pretty much where it all started (at least that’s what people in PA tell me). They named it a cement mixer or “cement job” because the town it comes from is known for cement and making cement.
I love the cement mixer and feel like the world would be a better place if everyone knew this move. I consider myself lucky to have learned it from the source back training at Lehigh University (in the heart of Wrestling country). This technique is great for MMA, Nogi BJJ, Wrestling (of course) and self defense so get your fill and use it often.
I plan to film some new videos showing it from some different situations but for the time being we have below Mr. Cary Kolat teaching it. Mr. Kolat is a 2x national champion Wrestler for Lock Haven so I guess he knows a thing or two about the cement mixer or as he calls it the cement job.
Enjoy the video and let me know what you guys/gals think!
