On January 16th, 2016 Ivey League MMA is hosting a seminar with former UFC lightweight contender Kurt “Batman” Pellegrino.

Most people don’t know this but Kurt was a former student of mine in the early 2000’s when I lived in NJ and taught classes for the famous Renzo Gracie Team.

After I moved away he kept up with his training and has done very well for himself, including a bunch of wins inside the octagon.

Kurt’s now retired from fighting but still very active in the MMA community, training and working with fighters at his school in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ.

I ran into Kurt over the summer at the CFFC show in Atlantic City and asked him to come down to Annapolis and teach a seminar for us.

He agreed and we now have an official date nailed down.

Not only is Kurt a world renowned fighter, he’s also a really good teacher with a style of fighting that fits in perfect with the training system we use here at Ivey League.

He plans to teach takedowns and ground grappling techniques and transitions that apply to both MMA and self-defense.

This seminar is open everyone, youth and adults of all skill levels. Beginners are totally welcome.

Yes this is a very beginner friendly seminar so don’t worry if you’re new to MMA, or worried that you can’t handle this. You’ll be just fine.

For us to bring in someone of Kurt’s level is a big deal. Kurt has a huge fan following and I’m 100% certain this seminar will sell out.
