When you enroll your child into martial arts classes, you’re doing something that could potentially change your son/daughters life forever.

Most parents have a hard time seeing the bigger picture when it comes to martial arts training and what their child stands to gain if they stick with it.

These days it’s common knowledge that martial arts offers young kids benefits such as better discipline, confidence, self esteem. These are things kids surely need but there’s also one other benefit that mom and dad often overlook. Athleticism.

One of our major goals here at Ivey League is to not only teach the kids martial arts but at the same time helping them to become a better overall athlete.

I feel like if the staff and myself can help give the kids much better athleticism then that’s a big plus. Becoming a better athlete is something that a child can take with them far beyond the walls of our martial arts dojo.

During our classes a good chunk of time is devoted to exercises aimed at making the kids into better athletes.

We’ll have the kids do exercises like gymnastics, body weight movements, sprinting, crawls and rope climbs. That’s only a few by the way 🙂

We do all stuff for the sake of helping them become better athletes.

As a parent, wouldn’t you want your child to become faster, stronger and more explosive? Of course you do.

Over the years I’ve seen so many young kids go from not being able to do something as simple as a forward roll to now being able to do standing back flips.

Here you can see one of our kids doing a one-handed round off. She started out not even able to do a forward roll!

I’ve worked with Too many martial arts academies that take the easy route with their classes and never look to challenge the kids with tougher workouts. I recommend giving the kids challenging exercises.

Something as simple as a rope climb will do wonders for a child’s confidence once they can make it to the top. Trust me, it’s huge for a child to finally do this!

Getting to the top of the rope won’t happen overnight and it’s something they’ll (kids) have to build up to.

Most of them anyway. Like I said above, when they finally make it to the top the joy of that kids face, it’s just priceless.

Lania Nick of Arnold MD finally makes it to the top of the rope. This was a very big deal to not only her but also mom and dad.

Our classes are tough, sure, but at the same time very rewarding for the kids. The parents appreciate this type of training and how hard we’ll have the kids working.

So, mom and dad, are you thinking about martial arts classes for your child? If so bring them to Ivy League Mixed Martial Arts. Let us give them not only the gift of martial arts skills but at the same type make them into better athletes.

    It’s win-win for everyone!
