Congrats are in order for the two newest blue belts at Ivey League Mixed Martial Arts.
Mike “The Cadillac” Murphy and Brandon Dolezal were both promoted to the rank of blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu by Master Danny Ives. This happened last Saturday morning at the Gi basics class.
Master Danny couldn’t say enough good things about these two great students. Both have been training for many years and both earned their belts the hard way.
Mike Murphy is from Boson originally but moved to Pasadena Maryland. He works in Washington DC as an electrician. He started with Ivey League back in March of 2010 and has had great success, both in the academy and in tournaments like the Naga. His son Holden also takes classes and was the 2011 Pan Kids silver medalist in BJJ.
Mike was the 2011 Ivey League Student Of The Year. Another interesting fact about Mike is that he lost over 50 pounds since he started training with us. Another great life story about a member of our little family.
Brandon, like Mike, has been with Ivey League for what seems like forever. Originally from Ohio, Brandon moved to Maryland a while back and has been here ever since.
He started training in April of 2008, learning both Kickboxing and Brazilian Jujitsu. He’s also won titles at the Naga and his step son, Brendan was the 2011 Pan Kids yellow belt bronze medalist in BJJ.
It’s students like these guys that make Ivey League Mixed Martial Arts such a welcoming and great place to train.
Congrats again to both of you and keep training because the end goal is the same, get the black belt!
