This past weekend Ivey League Mixed Martial Arts had four fighters head down to Virginia Beach for some Boxing matches.
These matches are what’s called “Smoker Fights”. That means all the fighters are pretty new and evenly matched. Also, the fights don’t counts as win/lose.
Just two guys/gals duking it out for fun and experience.
It’s a great way to get your feet wet with Boxing but at the same time not in a monster sized show.
All of the fighters from Ivey League are members of our platinum program.
They’re listed below:
Tommy Forsythe
Eddie Spiker
David Jamison
Marc Julian
Again, since it’s just for experience they don’t count anything as won-lost but from what we saw they did just fine 🙂
Eddie Spiker was caught in and back and forth rumble. Eddie was a little wild in the first round but got it all together in the second and third. It was a fans delight if you really dig watching 2 fighters slug it out.
That fight will be a great warm up leading into the MMA Nationals tournament in 2 weeks.
Marc Julian was the most battle tested fighter going into this event, having fought just 2 weeks ago. Marc, like he always seems to do, danced around his opponent and didn’t seem to have much trouble.
Look for Marc to make his MMA debut sometime this summer…that’s gonna be awesome!
David Jamison took some time to find his rhythm but after that the fight was smooth. Some much needed work in the clinch is surely due but in the end David did fine and this will prove to be a great learning experience for him.
The standout fighter for that night was young 16 year old Tommy Forsythe who looked like more then just 16 years old. He battled…and we do mean battled in his fight.
For those who know and understand Tommy then it’s easy to see why it turned into a brawl..that seems to be the way Tommy likes it, and that’s fine by us.
We look for big things in the very near future from this young up and comer.
Congrats to all that took part. Also, big congrats to the Ivey League MMA striking staff, Coach Jason, Cungle and Jayna Fenton.
