Just in cause some of the Ivey League students were hiding under rocks for a few weeks I’ll fill you in on what’s going on. Both Mike “The Hulk” Easton and Dominic Cruz won their fights at UFC 136 held in Washington DC.
Mike stopped his opponent with knees from the over/under position in the second round. The first round it seemed more like a feeling out round with both fighters trying to find their range. I have to give props to Mike’s opponent for taking the fight on 10 days notice and for eating those knees, which didn’t like look fun what-so-ever. I’ve known Mike for almost 10 years and to see all his hard work pay off and him win in the UFC was very special.
UFC batomwight Champion Dominic Cruz looks awesome as always. The champ won all 5 rounds in route to a successful title defense. The fight was won on good head movement and takedowns. My hats off to Dom for the way he was able to time the takedowns, that’s not easy to do. He did many double legs and even got fancy with a step across heriogoshi (advanced throw that I’m sure I misspelled).
All in all it was a great night for both Team Lloyd Irvin and the MMA fans who got treated to some great fights. Thanks also to all the students that made it out from Ivey League MMA.
